Karinah Ishtiaq
Currently, I am a Trainee Solicitor and Supervisor within the Housing Department, due to qualify as a Solicitor in May 2025.
I graduated from Teesside University with a Bachelor’s degree in Law in 2020 and then continued on to Sunderland University to complete a Master’s degree in Legal Practice Course.
In December 2020, I began working with Watson Woodhouse. Since joining the Housing Department, I have been given ample opportunity to develop and succeed. I started as a telephone housing advisor dealing with initial enquiries. I have since worked my way up to a supervisor status and oversee my own caseload. I help clients submit homelessness applications, challenge local authority decisions, address issues with disrepair, and prevent them from losing their homes.
I take great pride in providing clients with advice and assistance during their times of hardship, serving as a point of contact to help get them through a trying moment in their lives.
At present, I am strengthening my advocacy skills as a Court appointed duty advisor at the County Court at Middlesbrough. On a weekly basis, I assist those subject to proceedings related to the loss of a home.
