Woman badly injured in crash after heavy rain

by Watson Woodhouse

Three adults and a baby were injured in a crash in Moray, North-East Scotland in August 2009, when a black Saab belonging to a 32-year-old woman collided with a van carrying two men.

The woman, who suffered serious head and chest injuries, was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, whilst the baby boy and the two men were taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin. The three were thought to have escaped serious injury.

Graham Sloan, of the Road Policing Department, said “There has been a major impact between both vehicles and it is very fortunate that the child in the Saab appears to have come through the collision uninjured,” (BBC News, 2009).

Inp Sloan said that this was most probably due to a well-secured child seat which protected the baby. “It is too early in our investigation to comment on the cause of the collision; it is probable that the road was wet at the time, following some earlier rain, and our investigators will examine all the factors involved,” he added (BBC News, 2009).
