A 70-year-old woman suffered serious injuries when she was hit by a tram on the Blackpool seafront earlier this month. Maureen Foxwell was knocked over outside the Norbeck Castle Hotel on the resort’s promenade, and taken to Blackpool Victoria hospital, before being transferred to the Royal Preson Infirmary on the day of the accident.
Doctors in hospital described her condition as ‘serious but stable’; the pensioner had been celebrating her birthday in Blackpool before the incident. The tram driver also received treatment for shock.
Lancashire Police began an investigation along with the Rail Accident Investigation Bureau, to try and establish how exactly the accident occurred.
