Kirklevington Detention Centre and Operation Magnolia

Kirklevington Detention Centre was a youth detention centre in North Yorkshire for boys aged 14 to 17. Cleveland police, in an investigation called Operation Magnolia, are looking into a large number of allegations of physical and sexual abuse by youngsters against staff at Kirklevington.

The historical abuse, by various members of Kirklevington staff, started in the 1960s and continued into the 1990s and affected many boys serving short sentences at the detention centre.
