Credit card fraud occurs when a person steals another individual’s personal information via credit or debit card with the intention of making fraudulent purchases. Accusations of such fraud can lead to complex cases and it’s therefore recommended to gain expert help.

Credit Card Fraud Solicitors

Credit card fraud can occur through the method of Skimming, otherwise known as cloning. A card is duplicated by ‘skimming’ the information held on the magnetic strip of a card. Often executed using a PIN Entry Device (PED), it’s easily concealed in the pocket of the person you’re paying or even attached to a payment machine. From here the card is swiped through the PED with information on the magnetic strip copied. At the same time, the PIN is observed or recorded to allow a cloned card to be made up and used fraudulently.

Your credit card fraud solicitor has the relevant knowledge to investigate every aspect of allegations whilst building a solid defence. At Watson Woodhouse, our solicitors are highly trained in all aspects of fraud including credit card, mortgage, online and tax fraud.

Bank Fraud

Bank account fraud occurs if transactions you haven’t made show up on your bank statement. It can happen as a result of the theft of personal data and/or the capture of banking security information, frequently through “phishing” or “social engineering” techniques. Funds can be transferred instantly from a bank account in the UK to overseas, making for a complex process to trace and retrieve the lost money.

Credit card and bank fraud cases can be highly complex, potentially leading to heavy fines and/or lengthy custodial sentences. At Watson Woodhouse we strongly advise seeking specialist legal help should you have allegations against you.
