Joshua Butterwick
I’ve worked in Family and Court of Protection Cases for 3 and a half years undertaking a wide range of cases from Care Proceedings, Divorce and Financial Proceedings, as well as s21a and s16 proceedings before the Court of Protection. I deal with a wide range of different cases and represent clients on hearings in a number of different matters, regularly appearing at Court in both Care proceedings and Court of Protection proceedings.
I joined Watson Woodhouse in January 2021 following qualifying as a Solicitor in September 2019, and since then have been involved in representing clients regularly in both family and Court of Protection matters.
In relation to Court of Protection matters I regularly visit individuals who lack the capacity to make decisions themselves in respect of their care and residence at Care Homes or Hospitals and assist them in bringing s21a cases to the Court where they are objecting to their current placement, to consider as to whether this is in their best interests. I also have experience in taking instructions from the Official Solicitor to represent these individuals on a number of cases, in terms of preparing statements and orders and visiting regularly throughout the case to ensure their updated wishes and feelings are recorded.
In relation to family proceedings, again I represent parents regularly within Care proceedings, including preparing statements on their behalf, appearing in Court and meeting with them throughout the proceedings. I regularly deal with cases where there are concerns surrounding drugs, alcohol, domestic violence or mental health issues.
