Medical Negligence Lawyers Agree Heart Death Settlement

by Watson Woodhouse

A family has received compensation after claiming their mother’s death was caused by medics’ failure to treat her adequately after major heart surgery.

Margaret Parsons, 63, died 18 months after suffering a heart attack in the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, in April 2009.

The family’s medical negligence lawyers claimed medical staff failed to look after her properly as her health failed but the NHS denied liability.

After discussions with the family’s medical negligence lawyers in the High Court, Mrs Justice Swift approved an undisclosed settlement.

She described it as a “common sense” deal, which avoided highly complex litigation.
