Case Study: Macks secure £11,000 for crane accident victim

by Macks Solicitors

After contacting Macks Solicitors, Barry from Hull was awarded a large compensation package for injuries sustained in a work accident.

Barry worked in the construction industry. As part of a cable removal project, Barry worked alongside a winch machine that was used to extract the relevant cables. Unfortunately for Barry, on a day where he was working in particularly close proximity to the crane the machine malfunctioned.

This malfunction had dire consequences for Barry. Caught by surprise, Barry was unable to react in time. His left hand became entangled in the winch and he suffered severe crush injuries.

As a result of the entanglement, Barry sustained a double fracture of his index finger. His middle finger fared little better, with the accident inflicting a fracture and serious lacerations.

Despite the best efforts of expert surgeons at the local hospital and an intensive bout of physiotherapy, Barry was left with lasting medical complaints. Due to his accident, Barry is forced to cope with long-term deformity, loss of function, hyper-sensitivity and scarring.

As employers owe a duty to their employees to provide safe equipment, Macks were able to assist Barry in securing a financial remedy from the engineering firm he worked for. The figure which Barry received took into account the loss of earnings he incurred as a result of the accident, the pain and suffering he endured and the injuries themselves.

Every year, Macks’ personal injury team win scores of work accident claims.
